Embassy Cinema, Broadway, Peterborough, Northamptonshire
"John, Paul, George and Ringo have signed a single cream coloured page in an autograph book (still intact with other 60's pop stars- none too famous) on March 17th 1963 (see note below). Measures 4½" x 4". John has signed in black ballpoint pen and added 'Love to Pat from'. The others have signed in blue ballpoint pen. Paul has added 'Love & Luck from' and has also written 'BASS' in brackets beside his name (just in case it was in doubt). George has added 'Good Health' above his name incorporating the initials G& H. Ringo has added 'To Pat Love'. An unknown person has added Beatles in the top left corner. The book has been stored away since the day they were signed, almost 45 years ago, and hardly seen the light of day. Condition cannot be faulted. Near Mint.
By recipient on how they were originally obtained:
Nigel
I went to see the Beatles in early 1963 live on stage (as a support act) at the Embassy Theatre in Peterborough. After the show my friend and I heard that they were in a pub near the theatre. We found the 'Fab Four' stood by the bar having a drink. They were pleased to give me their autographs as they were relatively new on the scene at that time.
Regards
Patricia"

"WHEN Carol Abell was 15 years old, she and two friends went to see The Beatles in concert at Peterborough's Embassy Theatre....
By March 1963, when The Beatles came to The Embassy again, the group had had their first number one hit - Please, Please Me.
Carol said: "This time we went to the stage door before the show and told people working there we were in the fan club.
"They let us backstage and the group were in there practicing and drinking tea. John Lennon didn't say a great deal, but the other three were still very relaxed considering Beatle-mania had just struck.
"They had just bought a small record player but didn't have any records. So they paid for me to get a cab back to my house to pick up some of my records.
"We were really annoyed with ourselves afterwards that we didn't get any photos, but we didn't take a camera with us because we didn't expect to get so close to The Beatles again.""
