"I played in one of the support bands when the Beatles played Royal Hall Harrogate on friday. 8 march 1963. I was lead guitar in Ricky Fenton and The Apaches. After meeting the guys and listening to their fantastic beat we new they were different and were going to be huge! I spent some time chatting to John and Paul about their unusual guitars and my Dad-who was our manager actually swore at Paul when he tripped over some of our gear !!! Paul came back straight away and appologised !!!!. They showed up in an old yellow van and all helped to off load their gear. They looked quite different to any other muso's we had seen-quite long hair for that time (altho not really long-but just for those times !!!) They had leather coats on and looked like French art students !! It was a fantastic night that i will remember for ever. Bob (still playing at 63 !!!!)"

"One-day programs are very tough, due to their limited production. This March 8, 1963 Harrogate Concert program is from Royal Hall on Ripon Road in Harrogate, Yorkshire. Those four blue ballpoint & fountain pen signatures make this rare program absolutely irresistible. The Beatles were just beginning to become largely popular and they would tour with Gerry and the Pacemakers as well as Roy Orbison later that year. Framed in excellent condition. Tracks LOA"

"A single wooden drumstick (tip broken off), stamped 11A MORELLO MODEL BY Ludwig U.S.A. -- 14in. (35.6cm) -- one of a pair of drumsticks used by Ringo Starr during The Beatles concert at The Royal Hall, Harrogate, Friday, 8th March, 1963

According to the vendor, who was the lead guitarist for Ricky Fenton And The Apaches, who supported The Beatles on this occasion, Ringo Starr, known for his heavy drumming action, broke a set of sticks during The Beatles two live sets, and discarded them. After the group had finished, The Beatles' roadies packed up their equipment and left the venue, leaving Ricky Fenton And The Apaches to close the evening's entertainment. When the support band finished, the vendor's father, who was also their manager, helped clear up the stage, and when he spotted Ringo's two broken drumsticks he picked them up as a memento."
