"Malcolm Scott (Johnny West) also has memories of those days: "I had been inducted into the rock 'n' roll world by my friend the late Terry Wallace from The Vikings. I was heavily influenced by Buddy Holly, Billy Fury, Gene Vincent and Cliff Richard, so we performed much of their material. It was 1963, we had plenty of gigs and one of our regular gigs was St Peter's Church Hall, Maney, Sutton Coldfield known locally as Maney Hall.
Like many of the support bands at the time we had no stage suits, a leather jacket and jeans was the norm. Our agent contacted my father who handled our bookings and offered our group a gig at Maney Hall supporting a fairly new recording group, The Beatles. Stage suits were a must and a condition of that gig so as we had no stage suits we lost the gig. We never lost another gig due to the lads visiting a gents outfitters at Aston Cross and getting fitted with the red sparkle suits.""

"A rare postcard signed in Staffordshire by all four Beatles fetched £3,525 when it went under the hammer at Christie's in London.
The black and white postcard, illustrated with a picture of the Fab Four in white shirts and dark ties, was autographed in Tamworth 40 years ago.
It had been expected to fetch between £3,000 and £5,000 and was bought by an anonymous bidder at a pop auction.
The Beatles signed the postcard when they performed at Tamworth Assembly Rooms on February 1, 1963 - the year they had their first number one hit From Me to You.
Christie's pop memorabilia expert Sarah Hodgson said: "This is rare because it is very early, 1963, and quite an unusual postcard - not many have survived from that period."
Paul McCartney gave his autograph in blue ink on the Parlophone Records publicity postcard.
John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison - who added two kisses - used a blue ballpoint pen."
